Using Your Cell Phone To Make Money

Many people have "Smart phones" or cell phones that have the ability to access the Internet. Whether you are using a Iphone or an Adroid phone like I use, there are eBay apps for either of them which make finding stuff on eBay EZ.

However, where you can make money is by doing the following:

Once you have the eBay app, you can sign into your eBay account and instead of searching for stuff that you want to buy, search for stuff that you want to sell.

Go to Thrift Stores also known as Second Hand Stores and or Garage/Yard Sale and find things that look interesting and see what they are worth.

It is a lot easier in my opinion to do it in thrift stores because sometimes at Garage/Yard Sales the owner will sometimes think about whether or not they have it priced high enough once they see you searching on your phone for prices.

The key, is finding things that are cheap enough that you aren't taking a huge hit if something does go wrong and it doesn't sell.

I will show you some examples of things that I purchased at Thrift Stores along with what they sold for.

I was walking through a Thrift store one day looking for items to purchase and sell when I saw a yellow vintage lamp. I didn't know what it was used for until I looked up the model # in my eBay app and saw that it was actually a vintage tanning lamp.

I saw that there had been some that sold for as much as $65.00 in the last 3o days and with a price tag of only $7.00, I couldn't go wrong.

Through the help of Terapeak a 3rd party website that allows you to look up 90 days of history, I found that there had been one that sold for almost $100.00

I posted mine for $98.00 and it sold in 1 week. So before shipping, eBay and paypal fees, I was at $92.00 Gross Profit!

Lets take a look at another.

This is a vintage Panasonic Panabrator II EV221 Massager. I have purchased 3 of these throughout the months for $2-3.00 each.

It doesn't matter what they look like (yellowing on the head etc.) as long as they work, you can get $45-65.00 each for them.

There was one Vintage Hitachi Massager that I purchased for $4.00 that I sold the same day on Amazon for $145.00!

Here is something that is more common:

These are knee braces. You can find these pretty commonly at Thrift Stores. The 2 best brands that sell and sell for the most money, are BREG and DONJOY.
A lot of people get these through their insurance, and then when they are healed they have no need for it and donate it to the thrift store.
I sold 4 of these 1 month for a total of $220.00. The total amount I paid for all 4, was $12.00.
I can usually pick one up for less than $3.00 each.
You want to look for ones that are "Hinged" these ones have little dials on the sides that you can see and are called "Range of Motion" braces. They can limit how much the knee will bend.
Which people use after major knee surgery.
These are also adjustable or "scoping" braces meaning that the brace can get longer or shorter depending on the person.
So, for something that you can buy for $3.00 and sell for $55.00 each isn't bad at all!
As you can see, there are many things that you can buy for a small amount and resell for quite a profit!
The keys to your success will be the following:
1- What is the original cost? Is it cheap enough that if it doesn't sell, it wont matter.
2- What will my shipping cost be? Cost of item needs to be low, selling price needs to be higher than you bought it for, and shipping needs to cost less than that. Usually anything over 5 pounds will start to get expensive.
-Research for yourself how much things cost to ship with UPS or FedEx or USPS
3- Has this item sold in the last 30 days? If so, for how much? There is a difference between what someone is asking for something vs what they are actually selling for.
4- Is there any way to test the item in the Thrift Store or Garage Sale, to make sure that it works correctly. This is important with Electronics.
Although I don't do this much anymore, it is a great way to use your cell phone to make some extra spending cash!
Good luck and if you have any questions, contact me or leave a comment!
